Synopsis
An entertaining romp through the charming history of a beloved Chicago neighborhood. The town of Pullman, the brainchild of George M. Pullman, began as a small community on the far south side of Chicago. In 1879, Pullman, builder of the well-known Pullman Sleeping Car, purchased land just west of Lake Calumet and surrounding the Illinois Central Railroad, to build his model town in 1880. Pullman was the first planned model industrial town, and its center was Pullman's railroad car business. Employees lived in well-constructed housing on pleasantly landscaped streets, with all the necessary conveniences, including a bank, library, theater, post office, church, parks, and recreational facilities. In fact, Pullman was presented an award for the ""World's Most Perfect Town"" in 1896., The town of Pullman, the brainchild of George M. - e***l (55)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThree-day rocket-fast shipping. The maps were packed well, and indeed are from 1957, just as described. A fair price and a great deal all-around. Seller is responsive and ships fast. I'll buy here again in a hot minute!
- i***s (276)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem arrived solo just now & was packaged appropriately for shipping. I ordered 3 items from the seller who said all 3 were put in the same box. For some unknown reason, the eBay agent I contacted had no idea why the International hub opened the original box & split the shipments to send all 3 items separately. The item appearance was as described & was in good condition. The seller was very generous in adjusting the shipping cost despite there being no "save on combined shipping". Thx!šGreen Bay Packers & Chevrolet Knit Headband - Unisex Winter Accessory (#256608636957)
