Seller Notes: “Very Good to Excellent overall vint cond: This wonderful early 20th c Micmac, Native American ... “Very Good to Excellent overall vint cond: This wonderful early 20th c Micmac, Native American hand-woven, open-top porcupine basket, is fashioned out of splint ash wood & sweet grass flat vine. It was produced by the Micmac people from the Penobscot Bay, Maine region. This is the slightly smaller of 2 baskets from the same estate. The bottom of the basket, as well as the woven sidewalls are all intact & virtually without any damage. The looped 'porcupine' quills on the sidewalls are virtually damage free. This early 20th c Native American Micmac hand-woven sewing/fruit basket, is in outstanding overall vint cond. It still has its orig patina & aged, dry surface. The sidewalls are punctuated w/twisted, protruding highs (raised cleats) of the woven sweet grass. Great color & surfaces make this Micmac Native American basket a handsome, memorable one. The inside of the basket is clean, w/only perhaps the slightest indication of a stain. That's about it for damage. Gorgeous & very clean.”
