This Roland UA-55 has a standard USB 2.0 audio interface that works on various computer operating systems, including Windows and Mac, to offer maximum versatility. The device features Direct-Box DI functionality that is essential for a live setting. With a one-click, AUTO-SENS function, the Quad-Capture automatically sets up the ideal input levels for the preamps, saving you setup time. This interface has graphical control panel software that offers control of the onboard VS preamps for great performance.The Roland Quad-Capture has two combo jack inputs for XLR or 1/4-inch TRS connections directly to the VS preamps. There are also two TRS outputs, a headphone jack, and coaxial and MIDI I/O options. The AUTO-SENS button can be pushed to automatically obtain the optimal VS Preamp settings based on your playing. Each channel on the preamp also has a low-cut filter as well as phase inversion and digital compression features. The unit supports ground lift and Hi-Z switches. It also has phantom power and a USB bus power supply that minimizes hum and buzz when connected to your computer. When capturing and recording four channels at once, the Quad-Capture has a sampling frequency ranging from 96 to 44.1 kilohertz. When using only two channels, it has a sampling frequency of 192 kHz. It uses 24-bit signal processing for a PC/Mac interface. The two XLR inputs have a nominal level range from -60 to -6 dBu and impedance of 4.8 kilo-ohms balanced. The two TRS jacks have a nominal input level range from -50 to +4 dBu and impedance of 15 kilo-ohms balanced. It has balanced output levels at 0 dBu and 14 decibels of headroom. The high-speed USB 2.0 technology guarantees rapid processing capabilities. It can be powered through the USB bus.Although the Roland UA55 Quad-Capture is a powerful and quality audio interface, it cannot function alone. A USB cable is crucial for connecting to your computer. The driver CD-ROM is necessary for installing the graphic control panel software onto your computer. Once you have a cursory knowledge of the components and functionality, playing with the unit can provide great results.
