About this product

Product Information

Ron Guth

The 1897 Half Dollar is one of the most common dates of the 1890's; only the 1892 is more plentiful. It is readily available in MS62 to MS65 and even MS66 examples can be found with relative ease. The best examples top out at MS67, where some remarkabley colorful examples exist. The 1897 Half Dollar combines excellent quality, a strong strike, and affordability.

David Akers
This is one of the more common Philadelphia Mint Barber Half Dollars of this decade, but Gem quality examples...are still surprisingly rare.
