So the supplied voltage regulator looked similar but slightly longer (or higher) in dimension to the original regulator. It meant I had to push a bit harder to fit it under the main wiring to the battery. Fortunately the mounts for the screws still lined up . The connectors all matched up. The slightly longer lead was good as well. Started the bike and measured 14.8 volts across the battery. This is a bit high. I would have preferred between 13.5 to 14.5 volts. Over 15 would have been bad.
