Unit is in full working order, as advertised. There was no need to take it apart, although I did. I didn't need any support although seller offered it with the unit, which was nice. It was setup for the old-school test tubes, and for some reason the simple plastic adaptor for this to hold standard square cuvettes costs more than the whole unit did- but I own a 3D printer, so I soon had a solution to that problem.
