There are two fittings that catch on the camera's strap mounts as well as the bottom 1/4 mount to insure the camera won't move around. The cage has 1/4 and 3/8 sockets all around including a cold shoe mount. The shutter button and all of the openings of the camera are exposed for easy access. It gives the little camera a little more weight and is very comfortable to operate. It is very well constructed of aluminum.
