The machine had a strong smell like perfume or a cleaning product. I have flushed water hot water through it 8 times and it still smells. What was used to clean inside the machine?

The unit was cleaned and descaled with Active Coffee Machine descaler, formulated to remove any mineral build up. The odor you are noticing is probably the citric acid used in the cleaner. I ran the machone several times after the cleaning and did not notice the odor any longer.
