This is a magnificent, huge 19th century commemorative medal in excellent condition. Photos do not convey its quality--a real showpiece! That said, I will never again buy a slabbed medal: what a crazy idea, to SEAL in chemically dubious plastic an object that has survived almost 150 years of handling under who knows how many different climate and weather conditions, and has proven itself by organically becoming more beautiful with time. Slabbing does not preserve a brass object: it chokes it.
