    Second time I've bought one of these; I ended up giving the first one to a friend who had a thinkpad that ethernet cables would not clip into. They work fine. I bought the second one because my own ethernet socket on my laptop appears to have been damaged by the previous owner and I don't feel like trying to replace it. They have a Broadcom BCM57762 chip inside and work in Linux without loading firmware files. I'm using it right now to send this review.

    Adding a 2nd port to a laptop, opens up the laptop to be used as a proxy server, DMZ, and opens up apps like dd-wrt and pfsense. works fine in a dell latitude or i believe any laptop with an expresscard port that was made 9 years ago
