The standard gravity for all the garnets ranged from 3.933 to 4.098 They showed consistent absorption in the 460-500nm range with a fainter band around 550-570nm. They showed an anomalous double refraction, under polariscope. No UV response or pleochroism. There are some irregular bubble like inclusions, small black inclusions. The do indeed appear to be almandine dominant rhodolite garnets, as described.
