Notes
During the first half of the nineteenth century Neukomm was one of Europe's most highly regarded composers. He was the highly favored protege of the French diplomat Talleyrand and established contacts with the high nobility. With a mind of his own, his originality is demonstrated in his 4 orchestral fantasies, which he termed an Essay in a New Genre.
