Two Things:
1 - You failed to mention in your description that one of the pants cuff had unusual fraying from being dragged on the ground.
2 - Though the pants were clean, there was some strange overbearing chemical smell in them, as others commented about the odor and was very noticeable to me, also. Washing in a name brand laundry detergent fixed that (but not the frayed pants leg).
