The springs in each case , fitted between the plate and the drill clamp and assist in holding the drill clamp up while adjusting up or down without the clamp dropping suddenly . The drill pole is 1 inch diameter and these springs are a good clearance , are strong and compress firmly while giving a fair amount of travel for drill use . Bargain . Recommended for those using a drilling jig a lot . Arrived quickly .
