About this product

Product Information

For the first time ever on the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), play three classic installments from the Hitman series of games in HD. The limited Premium Edition of Hitman: HD Trilogy, developed by IO Interactive and published by Square Enix, features exclusive new content in addition to three popular Hitman games—"Hitman 2: Silent Assassin," "Hitman: Contracts," and "Hitman: Blood Money." "Hitman 2: Silent Assassin" was the follow-up title to the groundbreaking original game, "Hitman: Codename 47." Reprising the role of Agent 47, players are tasked with 20 missions around the world as they find themselves once again embroiled in a world that 47 hoped to leave behind. Unravel the web of lies that lured him back through the game’s engaging story missions with a choice of first- or third-person perspectives. With mid-mission save points, sophisticated engine dynamics, and an enhanced inventory shopping system, the game provides similar thrills to the original in a more streamlined package. There are also new weapons and a ranking system to discover. In "Hitman: Contracts," originally released for the Sony PlayStation 2 and Microsoft Xbox, Agent 47 uses his skills of stealth, strategy, and disguise to take down a range of targets. The missions in the game are largely framed as Agent 47’s flashbacks, having been shot by an assassin at the start of the game. Among the locations featured in "Hitman: Contracts" are Kamchatka, Rotterdam, Budapest, and Hong Kong. Set to an original soundtrack characterized by dark electronica and choral singing, "Hitman: Contracts" is one of the most atmospheric and psychologically engaging additions to this iconic video games series, blending action and strategy with story and character development. In "Hitman: Blood Money," which was originally released for the Sony PlayStation 2 and Microsoft Xbox and Xbox 360, the stakes are upped again with targets in the White House and the public outing of 47’s Agency employees. New features, including hiding bodies in containers as opposed to simply dragging them into shadows, add a level of realism to the game play, while rival assassins make the missions more challenging. Guards are also more intelligent than ever before, following blood trails and other clues to the player’s location, while the game world is proportionately more interactive, featuring more hiding places than other games of the series. Also distract enemies, make hits look like accidents, and plant decoys to help 47 remain in the shadows. A number of weapons not seen in the other games are also included, including improvised weapons, such as stilettos, screwdrivers, and fire extinguishers, along with an upgrade system for items like bombs and armor. In "Hitman: Blood Money," players also have to keep an eye on their notoriety level, which rises each time Agent 47 is caught on surveillance or witnessed committing a murder. The higher this notoriety level becomes, the more likely it is for non-player characters to recognize him, even in disguise. While adding a welcome dimension of strategy to the game, the notoriety system is disabled on the easiest difficulty setting. Combining three definitive Hitman games into one collection for the PS3, Hitman: HD Trilogy - Premium Edition is one for the fans to relive their favorite moments from "Hitman 2: Silent Assassin," "Hitman: Contracts," and "Hitman: Blood Money." The collection is also an opportunity for newcomers to catch up on the iconic assassin’s backstory in preparation for later installments, like "Hitman: Absolution," along with other Hitman games for the PS4 and Xbox One.
