The spline was at least 1.5mm too large (confirmed with caliper measurement) so the actual steering wheel would not seat at all. Secondly, the hole drilled for the carter pin was about and inch and a half too far up on the shaft. Not sure if this is a quality control problem or if the had the wrong specs to begin with. Had to purchase the OEM from John Deere directly.
