(for future reference, you can hold a 9 volt battery to the wheels and if you hear a clicking sound - the gears are split. I have replacement axles I purchased from Walthers for the Proto locos. Tell me how many you need and I'll send them to you. Maybe it's my hearing but honestly the F3's had no sound compared to the others I'm not selling.
