The title blends an arcade-style race between realistic cars with a fantastical power-up roster. You will encounter many characters and licensed real-life cars in this video game, including the Dodge Viper, Lotus Exige, and the Ford Transit van fitted with an F1 engine. Each vehicle is fully modeled with specific traits, including Speed, Drift, Acceleration, Grip, and Stability. Acceleration dictates how quickly the car can gain speed while Speed determines the car's top speed. Drift determines how well the car can handle turning corners, Grip determines how well the car can maintain traction with terrain, and Stability determines how well the car can handle collisions and impacts. Every car in the game is also designed to show the impact of various forms of damage sustained during your extreme race. The car race tracks are also based on real-life urban environments, including the river canals of Los Angeles and various areas of London. As you race, stunt, and Power-up through your high-speed races, you will garner points that help you to buy more cars, repair your vehicle, and gain fans and supporters. You'll also come across specific challenges during gameplay for an extra points boost. Each challenge will lead you to face a boss; when you defeat that boss, you'll gain access to specific modifications that give your vehicle more racing power. This PS3 game is an excellent choice for any kart-racing fan's collection of PS3 titles. It is a great addition to any PlayStation 3 game library, packed full of excitement and interesting techniques and graphics. You can drive all over the Blur courses with regular PS3 controllers, but the gameplay of this racing title is further accentuated by using steering wheel accessories and other driving peripherals created for extra excitement in PS3 racing games. Blur is also unique in its retained damage graphics; damage incurred in one round from collisions and attacks leave visible blemishes and scars throughout a race. I originally bought this one thinking it was mint or close to it but it turned out it was a little less than expectations.
