We sent the present example to NGC but they sent it back because the circa 1576 date of the underlying type is illegible. The test cut and countermarks likely applied by the Knights of Malta under the orders of Grandmasters Wigancourt, de Paule, or Castellar during their reigns from 1601 - 1657. Rare.”
