Removing five phillips head screws allowed access to and removal of the old gear. Wording on the new gear identified proper orientation on the spindle, and a few taps of my screw driver handle forced it in place. The disassembly and reassembly took about 10 minutes.

I had to create a make shift bearing press of sorts with a C-Clamp to seat the gear, and then fniish driving it home with a soft mallet to fully seat the gear. Happy ending- Sharpener works great once again.

Unfortunately , I couldn't fit either gear far enough onto the motor shaft to allow them to work properly. I had to buy someone else's gear, in order to fix my pencil sharpener. Still, I feel that they are a good eBay seller!
