Wiring was straight forward. A great addition to my bike. My 87 has the false upper tank cover, so that is where installed the gauge. You can't install the gauge in a real tank tank. You'd have to mount it on the handlebars somehow. The lower gas tank worked well for installing the sensor with modification to the mounting flange. The tricky part was drilling holes in the gas tank
