Powered down, replaced with purchased HD, powered up, RAID restored and all appears to be working normally. As happy as one gets for this kind of situation. We'll see if it continue to run as required.

When we expressed our frustration to the seller, they immediately apologized, refunded the entire transaction including shipping, and told us to keep the drive.
