Reviews
"...worthy book." -- Eric L. Johnson, Christian Scholar's Review "Across the globe -- from Africa to Asia, from Europe to the Americas -- marriage and family life have been losing ground as men and women no longer feel able, or eager, to tie the knot. But a future without family is no future at all. In this incisive and provocative book, Mark Regnerus argues that the renewal of marriage -- and by implication, family life -- will depend upon the revival of a faith that lends normative, ritual, and communal support to this relationship, our most fundamental social institution." -- W. Bradford Wilcox, Director, National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia "The future of marriage is the question on everybody's lips. Might Christians save it? Mark Regnerus responds with his trademark blend of sobering realism, sophisticated yet readable empirics, nonpartisanship, and first-person accounts of young adults sharing their hopes and uncertainties. Scholars, parents, political and religious leaders, and young adults will benefit enormously from this thorough and sensitive treatment of current relationship practices, and their implications for the future of marriage." -- Helen M. Alvare, Professor of Law, Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University "Marriage is the molecular building block of society. Christians believe it unlocks not only the pathway to human flourishing and social stability but is a foreshadowing of the gospel itself. However, Christians are not immune to the broader cultural trends impacting the formation of marriage and family. In The Future of Christian Marriage, Mark Regnerus offers a keen analysis of what those trends are and how they impede marriage. Pastors and church leaders should read this book to better understand the trends impacting their community and congregations." -- Andrew T. Synopsis
Marriage has come a long way since biblical times. Women are no longer property, and practices like polygamy have long been rejected. The world is wealthier, healthier, and more able to find and form relationships than ever. So why are Christian congregations doing more burying than marrying today? Explanations for the recession in marriage range from the mathematical - more women in church than men - to the economic, and from the availability of sex to progressive politics. But perhaps marriage hasn't really changed at all. Instead, there is simply less interest in marriage in an era marked by technology, gender equality, and secularization. Mark Regnerus explores how today's Christians find a mate within a faith that esteems marriage but in a world that increasingly yawns at it. This book draws on in-depth interviews with nearly two hundred young-adult Christians from the United States, Mexico, Spain, Poland, Russia, Lebanon, and Nigeria, in order to understand the state of matrimony in global Christian circles today. Regnerus finds that marriage has become less of a foundation for a couple to build upon and more of a capstone. Meeting increasingly high expectations of marriage is difficult, though, in a free market whose logic reaches deep into the home today. The result is endemic uncertainty, slowing relationship maturation, and stalling marriage. But plenty of Christians innovate, resist, and wed, and this book argues that the future of marriage will be a religious one., Marriage has come a long way since biblical times. The dog coat is two sizes too small, but the male Pitt Bull loves the coat; so I will keep it! The coat is a great value and is well made as described. Also, the packaging was good as well as the shipping cost and speedy delivery. I don't know whom is happiest ... me or the dog! :-) THANK YOU SELLER!

The game shipped and arrived quickly and was in excellent condition. The packaging was super helpful - we had a ton of rain the day the package was delivered so the outer padded envelope was deteriorating, but the game had been wrapped in another box which helped it stay in perfect condition. I highly recommend this seller!
