Synopsis
Pompey, or Pompey the Great, was one of the best military leaders of the late Roman Republic. His campaigns against the Marians, his battles in Hispania and his defeat of the Mediterranean pirates launched him to political stardom where he became an ally of Julius Caesar and a member of the First Triumvirate. However, an alliance between two such ambitious figures could not last, and the two became bitter rivals as the Republic descended into civil war. This book tells the complete story of Pompey as a military commander, pulling him out from the shadows of Julius Caesar's writings and examining him and his campaigns on their own merits.

- p***l (1073)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseFast shipping. All books are as described in their listings. They were wrapped snugly in bubble wrap, inside of a fully enclosed cardboard sleeve, which was in turn placed inside of a water resistant media mailer bag. A thoughtful packing job to protect the books and ensure their safe arrival. I recommend this seller to anyone who is looking for history oriented books. Thanks!!No 60 Sqn RFC/RAF by Alex Revell (2011, Trade Paperback) (#157140297817)
- a***a (70)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseFive star! I have ordered on-line many times for miniatures, some of which were fragile, glass, etc. This is a stand-out for perfect packing: carefully wrapped, then in a plastic bag, then pillowed in packing material. Plus, except that the mirror is missing as shown in the ad, the 2 pieces are in like new, excellent condition and they are 75 yr. old. Of course, I highly recommend the seller.
