Can't afford both (I just don't have it like that, sadly...), but I'm happy w/ this for sure. I play bass, btw... I've read many opinions that the Scylla is better for bass, because the Avalon is "noisy", but I don't really notice anything excessive (w/ a noise gate, it's gone) What really was the "deciding factor" for me, was the LED chain display on the front that shows the compression. If Scylla had that, I'd likely have that instead
