After removing the top tray the display can show weight, but as soon as the tray is replaced the error condition returns. This scale was obviously incorrectly calibrated. Another problem was that the serial port was not functional. It has obviously not been fully tested. The supplier offered a partial refund, but I rather requested a replacement even if I had to pay more. Never heard anything from supplier since then. Not reccommend
