The threaded portion worked with standard coarse threaded 1/2" nuts. I don't know if this is standard practice with carriage bolts or not. I wanted it for a project that needed several inches of thread - which it had. I had to shim the shaft to make it work for my project. Had I known the shaft was smaller diameter, I wouldn't have purchased the product.

All I received was an empty slimy nasty envelope inside a clear envelope printed with we're sorry we care about your order. I notified the seller Fasteners Inc and they immediately shipped a replacement order with a tracking number no questions asked. So if you want to buy from an honest seller, these folks are it.
