because of my lack of knowledge I did not realize this would not fit on the right side of a 8 pin socket. My PSU connected to the left side with a 4 pin connector. So I carefully spliced this cable into the PSU cable following how the wires were connected to the 4 pin connector. After soldering and heat shrink I plugged it into the GPU and it worked great!
