The Core 2 Duo processor was designed to meet the demands of a normal desktop user. With its dual-core design, you experience less lag and slowdown during any number of normal operations. The Intel E6600 is a capable mid-range microprocessor that gives your aging motherboard a second life.Compared to previous generations of chips, the Intel Core 2 Duo features a number of hardware specifications and improvements to the processor's architecture. The Core 2 Duo E6600 has 4MB of L2 cache, which is the part of the microprocessor that stores the most frequently accessed data on the CPU. This is twice as large as the L2 cache on the E6300 and E6400 processors in the same family. It also features a 1066 MHz front-side bus (FSB), which carries data between the CPU and the memory controller hub. That means swifter speeds for you as the user. The Core 2 Duo E6600 microprocessor operates on a 64-bit instruction set, but it's also binary compatible with its 32-bit software. Virtualization technology allows you to run a virtual machine, which is essentially a second system, on one physical computer.
