The retail packaging was correct, but it was not sealed and was lightly beaten up (could have been from shipping). There were also light marks/impressions on the plastic, some light scuffing at a corner as if the item had been dropped or was abrasively scratched against something, and there were small droplet residue/stains. All very minor, but enough to make it clear the item had at least been opened and handled. Price was okay so I kept it.

The equalizer in the SanDisk needs a boost in the bass, so it's best to review the spectra of your music and give it a good bass-boost (using Audacity for example) for the sub-bass (20 - 80 Hz). You'll hear music you didn't know was there. The SanDisk reproduces these frequencies VERY WELL And reproduction of the high frequencies are very crisp as well. The refurbished condition is unnoticeable--looks, performs, and feels new!
