Each selection,is explained, described and ranked., A legendary military expert, author, and on-air analyst for NBC, Fox TV, and ABC radio news presents an impressive collection of the greatest books detailing the most complicated war in human history, from Churchill's The Second World War to John Toland's The Last Hundred Days., Unlike any conflict before or since, World War II was a truly worldwide war, with dozens of nations participating in significant battles in virtually every corner of the globe. In this definitive guide, military analyst James F. Dunnigan chooses fifty titles out of the many thousands of books published on the subject as being the most worthy of a place in your library. He includes incisive commentary on such important volumes as General George S. Patton Jr.'s classic tome War As I Knew It -- a personal and brutally honest narrative of the famed leader's march across Western Europe -- and Studs Terkel's acclaimed oral history A Good War, with its riveting day-to-day accounts of the fighting men of many nations.

- e***- (122)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseUnfortunately I received a damaged book, the item and the package both were damaged and it was clearly evident its appearance that it happened during transit. The seller was very understanding and gave me a full refund for the damaged book, though it was no fault of their own. Other than the damage, the book was as described, the quality and condition aside from the damaged spot was like new. The cost of the book was reasonable. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.
- v***v (2106)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseAlthough this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate. How to chalk talk, by Harlan Tarbell (#197064259889)
- 5***i (71)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseArrived on time. Packaging was lacking, product damaged in two places during shipping due to inadequate padding within the packaging. I can live with it seeing as I don't want to hunt down and pay for another copy... Item was as described minus the damage to the spine of the book in one place from the thin plastic wrapping not providing any rigidity or padding. This is the first time I have encountered this problem with this Fantastic seller. Excellent value. Thank you
