Synopsis
Beyond the Scripture, this book delves into all other aspects of the Episcopalian service, from the vestments and gestures to the church calendar, that result in a deeper appreciation of the faith. The perfect book for newcomers who are often confused by the worship service, Welcome to Sunday is also an excellent book for those who have been sitting in the pews without fully understanding what happens on Sunday morning. Episcopal priest Christopher Webber takes the reader from the sidewalk outside the church, guides them through the service, and sends them out again when the service has ended. Webber explains the postures, the Christian year, the colors we use during various seasons, and all the elements in the Service of the Eucharist. As in Webber's very popular Welcome to the Episcopal Church, the tone of the easy-to-read book is conversational, making it useful for parish study., The perfect book for newcomers who are often confused by the worship service, Welcome to Sunday is also an excellent book for those who have been sitting in the pews without fully understanding what happens on Sunday morning. Welcome to Sunday focuses on the ways that liturgy nourishes individuals and communities in their Christian life, and helps readers discover the deeper meaning within the service. Study questions accompany each chapter, making the book an ideal resource for confirmation classes and adult inquiry groups. Book jacket.

- u***t (1033)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseBook was well used, sun burned pages , browned and dried, but over all still not a bad buy.
- c***s (162)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThis “very good” condition book is anything but. The back cover shoes apparent water damage, it’s worn on all edges, the spine included, and the front cover…well, the corner is bent, the bottom has a tear, and the clear coat/seal on the author’s name is peeling. Buyers, I would lower my expectation on condition. Prices are fair and reasonable shipping time. Thanks for the multi-book discount.
