LGA chips are designed with flat contact points rather than poles. This can help to ensure that the Intel core chip remains in firm contact with the motherboard. When the core unit is installed using zero insertion force (ZIF) hardware, the lands can serve as an extra barrier against chip damage. What's more, the use of a ZIF loading plate can keep each core in the quad a little cooler. This is because with the load plate in place, contact with the heatsink is enhanced. The Intel thermal monitoring system backs this up with a chip based thermal sensor. This DTS can rapidly sense the changing temperature of the CPU in use and reduce power usage to prevent damage.These Intel core processing units run at a baseline speed of 2.66 GHz. That's just the tip of the iceberg because the Q9450 quad core processor can be overclocked. It offers a boost to speeds up to 3.71 GHz. This quad CPU can thus provide an important reservoir of extra capacity for high workload situations. Helping to accelerate this quad CPU velocity is the presence of 12MB of Level 2 cache directly on the die. With each separate Intel core having access to 3MB of L2, read and write operations occur more rapidly. Supporting communication between these cores and peripherals is a front side bus running at 1.333 MHz.This capability is provided by four separate Intel logical processing units. Each Q9450 CPU core is capable of handling multiple threads of data simultaneously. This can make it easy for you to smoothly interact with multi thread capable applications. Another benefit that can come with having the quad core capability at your disposal is the ease of use in virtual server environments. By hosting a number of virtual servers on a single physical machine, many advantages can be gained.
