The Microsoft SideWinder X6’s wrist rest allows you to play comfortably for hours without pain. The numeric keypad on the side of the device lets you position it where it's most comfortable for you. The pad attaches quickly and securely to either the right or the left side of the device. You can also leave the keypad off altogether for a slimmer, lighter keyboard.This desktop keyboard lets you take your gaming to the next level with 90 programmable macros. With a macro, you can automate a series of tasks to one button, giving you an edge over the opponent. For example, a macro in a first-person shooting game will allow you to crouch and shoot with just one press. The SideWinder uses 30 programmable keys to let you create 90 macros. The included software lets you program these commands with ease. This software is compatible with systems from Windows Vista on up. Not only can you store in-game commands but also any chat messages you need to use frequently.You can save each macro on a gaming profile. A gaming profile is your SideWinder setup for a particular game. These profiles allow you to reprogram each key in the best possible configuration for that title. The SideWinder will automatically load the correct profile the moment you boot up a title. To further enhance your gaming, this device comes with three different modes. For normal typing and usage, there is the standard mode. When you're ready to decimate the competition in online warfare, there are two modes. The device will glow a particular color to indicate what mode you're using.Genres like MMOs typically have players pressing the same key multiple times to perform an in-game action. You can give your fingers and keys a rest by using the SideWinder's Cruise Control feature. This feature allows you to virtually hold down a button for repeated keystrokes without actually physically doing so. You can use this feature to hold down up to four buttons simultaneously. This device has an LED backlight for your late-night multiplayer sessions. The lighting dial at the top of the device lets you adjust the brightness in increments. Turn the dial a small amount to slightly increase or decrease the light. Turn it up all the way, and this Microsoft device could light up even the darkest room.The SideWinder has a broad array of media keys similar to what you would see on laptops. These media buttons let you play and pause any video you watch on your PC. You can mute all sound coming from your PC with one keystroke, and audio buttons let you quickly switch to the next track on your music apps. The volume control dial lets you set your sound to the exact volume you want. The hardware also comes with a Quick Launch feature, which will instantly open the Microsoft Games Explorer in Windows when pressed. This device uses a USB cable to connect to your PC.
