The Gigabyte GC-SLI2P works as expected: enables 2-way SLI, and while it gives no discernable benchmark improvement over a flexible SLI ribbon, it feels like I've replaced a rope bridge with a steel truss bridge. It is ideal for older GPUs such as the GTX 200 and 500 series; newer "high bandwidth" models require a HB SLI bridge.
