It has tiny serrations on the sides of the blade which grab and hold the root tip when a slight twist is applied to the handle during luxation. This significantly aids in luxation & extraction and is super in providing an atraumatic tooth or root removal. It has held up well (so far) to the mallet tapping during luxation / extraction. So far - so good....very good in fact. Time will tell though.
