I used these ceramic rods to make a knife sharpener with a 15 degree angle. The ceramic rods appear to be of good quality and straight. Their problem is that they are larger than 3/8" by several thousandths of an inch and won't fit into a hole that is exactly 3/8" So I had to enlarge the holes I'd made in the base by several thousandths of an inch by honing which was tedious and less than successful. But I got it to work eventually
