Seller Notes: “Toronto: John Lovell, 1856. Folio (51.5cm x 33.5 cm), original cloth recently rebacked with a calf ... “Toronto: John Lovell, 1856. Folio (51.5cm x 33.5 cm), original cloth recently rebacked with a calf spine, upper cover lettered in gilt, 40pp. With a folding table and 7 folding maps on 6 sheets. There are two large folding maps in addition to the 5 maps listed under ‘Maps Accompany this Report'—the ‘Plan of the River St. Lawrence between Prescott and Montreal' colour lithograph by George Matthews, Montreal, drafted by H.H. Killaly, measuring 70cm x 128cm and ‘Diagram map exhibiting the various routes proposed for the St. Lawrence & Lake Champlain ship canal.' This copy has been professionally rebacked with a new calf spine and corners, the original covers and endpapers have been preserved and they have some fading to the top portion but are otherwise near fine. A few of the smaller folding maps have some light scattered foxing, and they also have minor professional repair to the folds, without loss. The large folding map, ‘Plan of the River St. Lawrence' has some (see details below)”
