Plants and seeds policy

Most plants and seeds can be listed in Malaysia, but there are exceptions, including some seeds and noxious weeds. 

What is the policy?

• The following are not allowed:
  • Endangered plants
  • Plants, flowers, seeds, trees, fruits, or vegetables prohibited by government or by postal regulations  
• Consult these references to determine whether a plant is prohibited:
  • Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (MAQIS) Act 2011 (Act 728)
  • Plant Quarantine Act 1976 (Act 167) and Plant Quarantine Regulation 1981
  • Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security 
• Plants grown outside of Malaysia must be accompanied by these documents:
  • Import Permit
  • Phytosanitary Certificate, or similar, from the country of origin 
  • Customs Permit

Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.

Why does eBay have this policy?

To reduce the risk of introducing or spreading pests and diseases, the sale and import of plants and seeds is highly regulated.
