The Tippmann 98 custom paintball gun is one of the company's more common models. The Platinum Series version has many options for upgrades and is designed for both customers new to markers or paintball veterans out in the field. Everything from the barrel to the individual parts and components of the paintball gun have been designed by Tippmann to be swapped out with a variety of aftermarket parts and accessories. The Tippmann 98 custom paintball gun introduced a marker that no longer required players to purchase equipment with features they did not want or need. Some of the standard and upgraded accessories available include an aluminum receiver, an E-Trigger Kit, a Response Trigger, and a Cyclone Feed System.

The paintball gun itself comes as a streamlined, basic version. The Platinum Series is features an all-aluminum die-cast gun and a quick-release feeder elbow. Players can expect to have the following when they first receive their Tippmann:

• Barrel: Quick Thread Flatline design for improved accuracy.
• Receiver: Designed for easy access to internal parts for custom triggers and more.
• Vertical front grip: Completely redesigned for added stability and feel.
• Picatinny rails: For adding a custom carry handle or other accessories.
• Pack sets: Players getting into the sport can find sets including CO2 cartridges, a face mask, and a hopper.

Tippmann put all the attention toward the player's love of custom paintball guns. This Platinum Series paintball marker can tear down to individual components allowing any paintball fan to change anything they want. A trigger or barrel can be swapped out just as easily as a CO2 cartridge on any paintball gun out in the field. In addition, the marker is fully compatible with not only CO2, but also compressed air or nitrogen.

This gun accepts standard .68 caliber paintballs, which it can fire at a rate of eight balls per second out of the box before any customization by the owner takes place. The included flatline barrel will put a backspin on the paintballs, allowing for a range of over 250 feet, while maintaining accuracy.
