Keyless Entry Remotes & Fobs for Cadillac CTS

Cadillac CTS Car and Truck Keyless Entry Remotes and Fobs

Keyless entry is a convenient feature that helps you get into your vehicle quickly in bad weather and when your hands are full. If youve lost or worn out the key fob for your Cadillac CTS, replacements are readily available and easy to program to your car.

Who programs car and truck key fobs?

You can take your vehicle and your new key fob to any garage or locksmith and ask them to program the keyless entry remote for you. The process is a simple one, and you can program the replacement remote yourself if you like. To do so, get into the vehicle, close the doors and follow these steps:

  • Place your key in the ignition and turn it to the "on" position.
  • Press the vehicle information button until the car displays "press to relearn remote key."
  • Press the set/reset button until the display changes to "remote key learning active."
  • Press and hold down both the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob for 15 seconds or until a chime sounds. The fob is now ready to operate your vehicle.
  • Turn the vehicle off and remove your key to exit programming mode.
How many remotes can be programmed to one vehicle?

Your Cadillac CTS can be set up to work with up to four keyless entry remotes at a time. This allows you, your spouse, and any other drivers in the house to all have access to the car while still maintaining a spare key.

How do keyless entry remotes work?

Keyless entry remotes work by transmitting a radio signal. Your car contains a receiver that is programmed to recognize and accept commands from your specific remote. The radio emitter in your key fob is a short-range model, so your key fob must be close to the car in order to work. The range of the remote for a Cadillac CTS is about 60 meters or 195 feet. Some cars, however, have a shorter functional range of 20 meters (65 feet). If your key fob fails to work even at close range, consider changing its battery.

How long do key fobs last?

Your key fob could last the lifetime of your vehicle, but you should expect the unit to need a new battery every three to five years. On some units, the battery can be difficult to change, in which case, owners may elect to simply replace the entire fob. If your keyless entry remote starts to burn through batteries or if the decals on the buttons wear away, replace the remote.
