Air Bags for Toyota Sienna

Airbags for Toyota Sienna

Once a premium feature, airbags have now become a safety staple. Your Toyota Siennas airbags are an important part of its good safety rating. After a collision or an accident, you will need to replace some or all of your Siennas airbags in order to keep yourself and other people safe when you drive.

What do airbags do?

In the event of a collision or accident, Toyotas automatic sensor system will trigger the airbags to inflate. Strategically positioned all over the vehicle to protect the driver and the passengers, the airbags deploy rapidly to cushion the Toyotas occupants and prevent them from making contact with hard surfaces such as the steering column, dashboard, and front windshield. Once your Siennas airbags have inflated, though, you must replace them with new airbags in order to comply with safety recommendations.

Where are the airbags located?

Typically, airbags are located throughout your Sienna at several key points to protect the driver and other occupants from making contact with hard surfaces inside the car or with each other. Regardless of their seating location, all occupants benefit from airbag protection.

  • Drivers airbag: Usually located in the Siennas steering column, this airbag cushions drivers and prevents them from making contact with the steering wheel, steering column, dashboard, and front windshield in the event of an accident.
  • Passengers airbag: Located in the vehicles dashboard, this airbag prevents the occupants of the car from moving forward into the dashboard and front windshield. Additional airbags below the glove compartment protect the occupants knees and legs from impact.
  • Side curtain: Side curtain airbags inflate to cover the side windows of the car or truck, protecting occupants from contact with the side door or window and shielding them from glass shards.
  • Center console: Located in your cars center console, these airbags protect the interior of the car and help prevent rear passengers from moving into to the front. They also help to prevent impact between people seated in the rear of the car.
How do you know which airbag to buy?

The first step in finding the right airbag to buy for your Toyota is knowing your vehicles make, model, and year so you can make sure the airbag is compatible with your car. You will also need to know which of your Toyotas original airbags deployed and which ones you need to replace. From there, you simply need to determine which replacement airbag for your Toyota meets your needs.
