A/C & Heater Controls for Honda CR-V

Honda CR V A/C Heater Controls

The Honda CR-V, which is a crossover vehicle with a powerful engine, is a large SUV that requires a climate control system that can keep the vehicle cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The OEM controls that are installed in the vehicle can be replaced or upgraded if you wish. Here is a guide to your options.

What are the heating and cooling features on a CR-V?

The OEM control units that come with this Honda CR-V allow you to set the temperature and adjust the airflow whenever you need. These controls are adjusted using the knobs on either side of the control panel. There are six fan notches that you can use to alter the speed of the fan as well, and if you want a full A/C effect, you can use the max A/C button to turn the cool air up to full blast.

In the CR-V, you can also choose whether the air is coming from the vents in front of you, the vents that are located near your feet, the defrosters, or a combination of two of the vent options. There is also a button that you can press that will circulate the air from inside the Honda instead of bringing in fresh air that may not smell that pleasant. This is a great option to consider when you pass a skunk as you are driving or you pass a car that has a strong exhaust smell.

Some of the older models of the Honda CR-V have a three-knob display instead of the panel with buttons and knobs that was built into newer models. They have the same exact functions on the knobs; the display simply has a different layout, which means that not all OEM control panels may be an identical replacement for your Honda.

Does the Honda CR-V have rear temperature control options?

There is a button on the controls of the dash that allows you to control the temperature in the back of the EX-L or other Honda SUV, but you cannot control the air from the back other than opening and closing the vents with an OEM system. If you get an aftermarket heating and cooling system installed, you will be able to install controls that can be used by passengers in the back seats if you’d like.

Can the individual buttons and knobs be replaced?

If a button or a knob on the display becomes damaged or broken, you will be able to pop it out of place and replace it with another that comes from an aftermarket kit so that the buttons are the same size. However, having a single new button or knob may stand out on your temperature display, which is why purchasing a full A/C and heater control replacement may be a better option for your CR-V.
