IT is VERY important that the software be installed BEFORE connecting
your VisiKey® keyboard and mouse to your computer!!!
Software Installation (Windows™)
If you installed any software for your previous keyboard or mouse, please remove
that software/driver before you install the VisiKey® software.
Depending on your Windows™ System, you may not need to install software to use
the basic functions of your keyboard. We STRONGLY recommend that you install the
appropriate software driver from the included CD-Rom in order to get the maximum
use and best experience from your keyboard purchase.

1. Place the VisiKey® Driver CD into your CD/DVD drive.

2. The CD-Rom should auto-run opening a window that has several driver icons for
you to choose from. If this does not happen, please follow the steps below:

a. Double click your “My Computer” icon (located either on your desktop or
start menu depending on your Windows™ version), to open a window
showing the available drives on your computer.
b. Double click your CD/DVD drive to open the VisiKey® CD window.

3. Choose the driver that matches how you will connect your keyboard:

a. USB connection, choose driver labeled “VK WinUSB Manager.exe” and
double click to launch the installer
b. PS/2 connection, choose driver labeled “VK WinPS2 Manager.exe” and
double click to launch the installer.

4. Follow the instructions on your monitor to complete the installation.

The keyboard is a 104-key model; it comes with 12 hot keys that enable one touch
access to multimedia / internet functions. The following are the default settings:

1. Play/Pause: Play or pause audio or video CD
2. Volume Down: Decrease the volume
3. Volume Up: Increase the volume
4. Mute: No sound
5. Prev: Go to the previous media track
6. Next: Go to the next media track
7. Stop: Stop downloading the content of the web page
8. Internet: Open preferred web browser (usually Internet Explorer)
9. E-mail: Open preferred e-mail client (usually Outlook Express)
10. Search: Launch your web search
11. Backward: Go back to the last web page viewed
12. Forward: Go to the next web page

Tips for Making Windows™ More Visible and Easier to See.
Windows™ XP offers different features for users with low vision. These features can
be accessed from the Start Menu, the Control Panel or the Accessibility Wizard.
The Start Menu Accessibility Programs
The Start menu contains visual enhancement utilities that you can select.
To use the Accessibility Program:

1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories and then click Accessibility.
2. Select one of the following features:
a) Magnifier: With this feature, you can enlarge the screen display.
b) Narrator: This feature provides audio assistance about the items that are
displayed on the screen.

Trouble Shooting:

1. If your keyboard is not responding, be sure to check if the connector is correctly
installed into your computer and securely connected to the correct port. Check
to see if there are any breaks or sharp twists in the cable.

2. If your USB keyboard does not respond make sure your computer is turned on.
If you connected your mouse while your computer was shut down, try
disconnecting and re-connecting the mouse while the computer is turned on.

3. If the keys on your keyboard are sticking or slightly harder to push, the problem
may be caused by something previously spilled on the keyboard. If you spilled
a sticky substance on your keyboard, drain the liquid and then completely wipe
the keyboard with a damp cloth. Allow the keyboard to dry completely before
reconnecting it to your computer.

4. In very few instances, there may be some mold plastic left over from production.
If one particular key is sticking, you may want to check and see if there is any
plastic under the sticking key. If so, you can gently pop the sticking key off and
remove the plastic underneath the key. Before you gently return the key to its
position on the keyboard, check for dust or debris under the key. Any dust or
debris can cause friction between the key and the circuit board and needs to be
removed.

5. Keep all items away from direct sunlight, moisture, dirt, extreme heat and
abrasive chemicals (cleaning solutions). Please note that abrasive chemicals
can fade the lettering on the keyboard.

6. If the keyboard or mouse become accidentally immersed or splashed by liquids,
switch off your PC immediately and unplug all items. Turn the keyboard upside
down to drain any liquids. If the liquid was water, simply let the keyboard dry
before using it. If you spilled a sticky substance on your keyboard, drain the
liquid and then completely wipe the keyboard with a damp cloth. Allow the
keyboard to dry completely before reconnecting it to your computer.
